Frequently Asked Questions

How should chocolate be stored?

Chocolate is best stored in a cool area (around 65 degrees) with low humidity. Chocolate hates moisture!! Remember, chocolate is an oil-based product, and oil and water don’t mix. Be careful not to drip any water onto the chocolate. Chocolate responds noticeably to small amounts of moisture by transforming it from a shiny, smooth texture to a dull, grainy texture.

What is your allergy information?

Our products are produced on equipment which shares in the production of peanuts, tree nuts such as cashews, almonds, walnuts and pecans, soy, eggs, milk and wheat.

Is chocolate gluten free?

“Pure, unsweetened chocolate, made by liquefying roasted cacao beans and containing nothing but those beans, should be completely gluten free. But pure, unsweetened chocolate also doesn’t taste very good. It’s the combination of chocolate and cocoa butter (like pure chocolate, a product of cacao beans), sugar, milk (in some cases) and other ingredients that make chocolate such a taste sensation. And those other ingredients are where any gluten-related problems are introduced.” This information was obtained from celiacdisease.about.com. Consult with your physician before consuming chocolate products.

What is the difference between the chocolate melts that you buy in the craft stores and Fuller’s Candies?

Easy-to-melt wafers which are used for candy making-molding, dipping or coating is not pure chocolate. These melts are made of sugar, milk solids, vegetable oils, flavorings and colors, plus cocoa powder, if chocolate. Fuller’s Candies only uses pure chocolate. The smooth, rich taste is very distinctive!

What is the difference between dark, milk and white chocolates?

Chocolate is a range of products derived from cocoa (cacao), mixed with fat (cocoa butter) and finely powdered sugar to produce a solid confectionary. There are several types of chocolates according to the proportion of cocoa used in a particular formulation. Dark chocolate is produced by adding fat and sugar to cocoa. It is chocolate with no milk or much less than milk chocolate. Dark is synonymous with semisweet, and extra dark with bittersweet, although the ratio of cocoa butter to solids may vary. Milk chocolate is solid chocolate made with milk in the form of milk powder, liquid milk, or condensed milk added. White chocolate is a confection based on sugar, milk, and cocoa butter without the cocoa solids.
